Can you believe it’s already into the 2nd month the of the year?
During December & January it’s promoted everywhere NEW YEAR, NEW ME.
Which fair enough sometimes it’s the push we need to make those changes we’ve been longing for and a fresh start to the year might just the final piece to the puzzle.
But what happens when the fuss is gone?
Are you still just as motivated as when you started? After all you said this was the year it all changes.
Motivation comes and goes, what keeps us moving towards our goals, is our consistency and discipline towards a healthier you.
It doesn’t have to be extreme or nailing everything in the first week you start, it’s building upon that 1% each day.
‘’Complaining about not achieving success despite working hard is like complaining about an ice cube not melting when you heated it from 25 to 31 degrees. All the action happens at 32 degrees.’’
James Clear – Atomic Habits
It’s all about those small steps you take every day. You might not see it every day, but every day counts towards something bigger.
Here are my top 5 to ensuring you can stay on track all year round.
- Be realistic about your goals
Your lifestyle will determine the reality of how much can achieve during the week. Key to success is making it work for your lifestyle. No two people will have the same 24hrs but what you can do in your own day and being consistent is what counts.
- Food is not the enemy
It’s the fuel we need for our bodies to make the changes needed while also nourishing ourselves for our health. We will be eating for the rest of our lives so why not make it enjoyable and less restrictive.
- Rest and recovery
Never underestimate the body’s need to rest.
- Not a 6 wk transformation challenge
99% of the time we won’t be exactly where we would like to be at the end of 6 weeks, and that’s okay. Our fitness journey isn’t a race its a lifestyle. The best consistency and adherence is learning to enjoy the process along the way, to accept that there may be tough times but it’s all apart of the journey. This is where we grow and evolve as our journey unfolds.
- Invest in a coach
A coach’s job is to educate and support you, while providing you with the tools that are designed to work with your lifestyle and to navigate all the noise you see online.
Make this the last time you start again!
